Many locks that are installed for doors in the UK are Euro locks, which are known and acknowledged by police to be snapped by criminals for them to gain easy access, as the locks are particularly vulnerable to snapping. Euro locks are installed on most uPVC doors, and have also been installed on various wooden and metal doors, and as they are often structurally insecure it is a good idea to check if your locking system is in fact protecting you as much as it can. Lock snapping works by the cylinder snapping in half, which then leaves the lock mechanism exposed allowing criminals to gain easy access. Our Locksmiths, Devon, can help replace these insecure locks with uPVC locks to offer a quality security method.
If you do find your lock is a Euro lock then there is little need to worry as you can call out our locksmiths, Devon, who will make sure your lock is unlikely to be snapped by replacing the lock with a "Break-Secure" lock, also known as a "Snap Safe" lock. These locks are specifically design to slot into the same door as a replacement for the euro lock, and will prevent burglars taking advantage as the lock will not snap in under 30 seconds like the Euro lock.
These flawed locks are being tackled by both the police and locksmiths, by implementing the new break-secure locks as a new British standard. Our locksmiths, Devon, will ensure that your lock is secure and the installation is as hassle free for you as possible, and to make sure your mind is at ease they will make sure to be with you to help as soon as they can.
